Hyogo Prefecture

Port Liner Sannomiya Station Ticket Gate

In a transition scene in episode 4 of the anime “Nichijou,” the ticket gates inside the station were depicted as the background.

Kyoto Prefecture

Yamashina Riverbank, Rokujizo, Uji City

There are also spots within Kyoto Prefecture that served as models, located near Kyoto Animation, the studio responsible for producing “Nichijou.”

In a transition scene in episode 2 of “Nichijou,” the banks of the Yamashina River flowing through Uji City are depicted. Specifically, it is the area where it intersects with the Keihan Uji Line river bridge.

In the map below, the view from the riverbank on the south side of Keihan Rokujizo Station matches the background shown in the anime.

Osaka Prefecture

Maison d’or Koraibashi Building (Italian Restaurant DAAK)

This building was depicted during a transition scene in episode 18. The shot in the anime is a distinctive one, captured with a wide-angle lens from a vending machine across the street.

While the Maison d’or Koraibashi Building itself still exists as of 2024, the “Ark Kitahama Building,” where the vending machine was located, has been closed for demolition. Consequently, it is no longer possible to enter the grounds of the Ark Kitahama Building or take photos of the building from the same angle as seen in the anime.

Incidentally, the office of “Animation Do,” an affiliate of Kyoto Animation, is located very close by. Perhaps due to this connection, landscapes in this area are frequently used as backgrounds in anime produced by KyoAni.
